Bombardier Transportation offers a full range of rail vehicles for urban and mainline operation as well as modernization of rolling stock and operations and maintenance services. For our Headquarters in Berlin, we are currently looking to recruit a: Senior Architect Workplace and Office IT Berlin, Germany Summary Drive EUC architecture and design, focusing on PC (real and virtualized), but also considering other devices and tools (e.g. Citrix, phones, tablets) The role need to consider a scaling and industrialized environment which maintain service reliability, performance and functionality. The role encomprises the following key accountabilities: Define BT Client (SOE) requirements (functional and nonfunctional) Architectural oversight of the end2end client framework and architectural building blocks including client virtualization/terminal server technologies Managing our standard images deployed with all laptops, (Standard Operation Environment or SOEs) Road-map planning for applications included in the SOE Run user acceptance testing for new SOE builds Manage supplier(s) during build and test process Align with the applications team and architecture Software distribution Road-map planning for distributed applications in cooperation with the applications team Manage supplier(s) for packaging and testing Manage supplier(s) for distribution and patch management Active Directory Technical subject matter expert for AD setup and the definition to optimize GPOs and domain structure Qualifications For this role, the successful candidate should offer the following: Deep understanding of client architectures and design Proven track record to drive standardization and simplification in a highly complex and distributed environment Ability to lead complex architectures/designs (documentation, review, improvements) Fundamental understanding of ITIL processes and operational procedures. Technical infrastructure skills and subject matter expertise across multiple disciplines (Windows XP/7, Active Directory, EUC technologies and market trends, LAN, remote access and wireless technologies, PDA and Tablet technologies, Deployment Methodology, Client Virtualisation, Project Management, IS governance KPI/SLA/SLO). Ability to roadmap and plan for end of life transitioning of hardware and standard operating environments Capability to simplify complexities for stakeholder communication and managing for impact Track record to work in an outsourced environment and perfrom through 3rd parties and suppliers Budgets: Principles, methods, techniques and tools for the management and monitoring of budgets to minimize costs and ensure cost-effectiveness Understanding of cost of ownership modeling and holistic cost comparisons Decision Making: To ensure business commitments are met. Needs to be able to make balanced rationalized and timely decisions Knowledge of business recharge models a distinct advantage Proof of experience in international projects English language required. German will be advantageous.
