Description Serving a diversified customer base around the world, Bombardier Transportation is the global leader in the rail equipment manufacturing and servicing industry. Bombardier Transportation offers a full range of rail vehicles for urban and mainline operation as well as modernization of rolling stock and operations and maintenance services. Bombardier is responsible for the systems integration and delivery of communications systems for transit and Automated People Mover (APM) projects. We are currently looking to recruit a: Network Architect Engineer The position will include responsibilities for the system design and implementation of one or more of the following subsystems: • Radio systems for use in surface and underground mobile applications • Fiber optic communication networks • Telephone systems (analog, digital, VOIP) • Public Address • Passenger Information Systems (display technologies) • CCTV and Video Management Systems • Networks and switch configurations The Network Architect shall have experience designing and integrating one or more of the referenced technologies into a complete system, in both legacy and new-build environments. The candidate will work in a core team environment and be expected to provide the expertise and leadership to design and carryout the implementation of advanced, integrated, communications systems to support transportation systems. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent work experience); an advanced degree and/or advanced industry certifications are a plus. At least 12 years of network engineering experience Expert knowledge in wireless and cellular technologies (WiFi, WiMAX, GPRS, GSM, etc.) with emphasis on mobile to ground wireless systems Expert knowledge of networking hardware and software Expert knowledge of networking protocols (MPLS, TCP/IP, SNMP, EIGRP/OSPF/BGP, DNS, DHCP, Syslog, etc) Expert knowledge of miscellaneous networking solutions (gateways, proxy services, VPN, wireless, WAN optimization, etc) Expert knowledge of designing networks to support video with low latency, mobile and fixed. Strong knowledge of telecommunications technologies (codecs, VOIP, video teleconferencing) Strong knowledge of various mainstream Operating Systems (Windows, UNIX, Linux) Strong task delegation, team leadership, and project management skills.
