Some 60 passengers injured in train accident

Some 60 Passengers Injured In Train Accident - 22/12/2009

Some 60 passengers were injured in a train accident that occurred at Zagreb’s Central Railway Station at 5:26am today (Mon).

Five of them were hospitalized, but no one's life is in danger. The other passengers were sent home after medical examinations.

The accident happened when a train arriving from Sisak derailed and hit a concrete buffer.

A seven-member Croatian Railways committee and police will investigate the cause of the accident.

Marijan Klaric from Croatian Railways said the same train had stopped without problems at ten other stations.

Net.hr website has reported the engineer claimed the train’s brakes had failed at the station’s entrance.

Passengers on the train said they had heard him shouting that he was unable to stop.
