Germany: Only Every Second Ice Train Operates On Berlin Munich Line - 28/12/2009

The heavy frost, which affected Central and Eastern Europe in the past few days caused some serious technical problems for railways. Only every second ICE train operates on the railway line between Berlin and Munich.

According to the local media, changes in the timetable of Deutsche Bahn’s ICE were a surprise to many travelers. Especially on a day just before the Christmas Eve.

DB’s spokesperson informed, that the railway operator cannot provide any replacement for canceled trains, because all available vehicles are already in service.

High-speed ICE trains will leave every two hours, instead of every hour, on a line Berlin – Munich until the 27th of December. Representatives of Deutsche Bahn explained, that the situation has been caused by the heavy frost, which was recorded in Germany in the last days.
