Czech Republic: Salaries of railwaymen will remain at this years level

In 2010, salaries of Czech Railways’ employees will remain at this year’s level. On the 17th of December, the state-owned rail operator signed an agreement on salaries with representatives of all 8 trade unions.

Even though the negotiations were tough, we managed to reach an agreement, said Petr Zaluda, CEO of Czech Railways. According to him, the company is well protected against the results of the global downturn.

In November trade unions declared, that their priority is to preserve jobs, not to increase salaries. Currently České dráhy has about 28,000 employees.
